Fare Hikes Voted Down

It has been a great year for Long Island Jobs with Justice, and we're just getting started. A few weeks ago, County Executive Ed Mangano came out against a fare hike for cash riders of Nassau County Bus, and just yesterday, we got the Transit Advisory Committee to vote against the fare hike for these riders. Metrocard users will still see a fare hike of $.25 that will mimic the hike that the MTA instilled, but cash users will not pay an increase in fares.
This is a great victory for bus riders in Nassau, but this is only the beginning. With ridership numbers at an all-time low and service down by 10%, we need to keep the pressure up. That's why we're having a Public Forum with our elected officials on February 28th at 6:00pm at the Ethical Humanist Society in Garden City.
We hope to see you there!
